Clericus 1.03 (released
27.11.2007) Interface: - choice of opening book style: Normal, Broad, Solid, Hypermodern, Fighter, Gambit - editable comments to the opening book - choice of playing style: Objective, Pessimistic, Smart (default) - predefined program layouts (Glacier, Wood, Yellow Water, Tundra etc.) - language settings ( just Polish and English for now ) - detailed display of evaluation Engine: - internal iterative deepening - futility pruning - late move reduction - queen centralization bonus, inversely proportional to the number of opponent's minor pieces - minor evaluation tweaks ( fianchetto, stonewall etc. ) - knight mobility added - new endgame heuristics, most notably unstoppable passer detection in pawn endings - opening book debugged - fixed important bug in fail-low handling Clericus 1.02 (released 15.08.2007) Interface: - evaluation function editor - pieces may be moved both by dragging and clicking Engine: - estimated strength : about 2000-2100 Elo (lower bound of BayesElo after Polish Chess Programs' League) - Principal Variation Search (PVS) - checks extended also in the leaf nodes (otherwise scores of perpetual check are way too high) - move sorting improved - better criteria of resigning (customizable in the .ini file) - fixed an evaluation asymmetry bug concerning King pressure - some attack patterns introduced in evaluation function Clericus 1.01 Interface: - bigger, more readable board - ability to create a PGN record of the game - graphical options customizable in the clericus.ini file. Engine: - strength: about 1800 Elo (after ChessWar X). - move sorting improved - some endgame knowledge added - pawn on 7th extension - more detailed pawn structure evaluation - better understanding of the defensive function of fianchettoed bishop - improved handling of a rook traped by an uncastled King Clericus 1.0 ( initial release - 05.06.2007 ) - Hopeless 0.46 engine inside ( about 1800 Elo ) - graphical user interface ( StringGrid + font ) - book editor - option to undo/redo moves |
